ISHR offers a hot lunch programme provided by Katerine GmbH. The daily menu includes up to three freshly cooked main courses, salads from the buffet, a soup of the day, and a dessert. Students may also bring lunch from home.
ISHR is an independent school accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and a member of the Association of German International Schools (AGIS). It is authorised to teach all three IB programs (PYP, MYP and Diploma) and is officially recognised as an Ergänzungsschule by the state of Lower Saxony. The school is run by a GmbH whose shareholders include Bahlsen GmbH & Co. KG, Continental Aktiengesellschaft, Deutsche Messe Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, Förderverein Internationale Schule Hannover Region e.V., GETEC Gruppe, Hannover Rückversicherung AG, Hermann Wegener GmbH & Co. International School Hannover Region (ISHR) is an independent, non‑profit IB school serving ages 3–18. It offers the full International Baccalaureate continuum from Kindergarten through Grade 12, including the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme. Instruction is in English, with German language and other subjects integrated as appropriate. ISHR is accredited by CIS and NEASC and is a member of AGIS. The campus sits on a green site near central Hanover, with a main administration building, four wings of classrooms, a well‑stocked library, science laboratories, ICT infrastructure, a dedicated Kindergarten, a dining hall with a professional kitchen, and music, drama rooms and an auditorium; plus on‑site sports facilities. In 2013 a new secondary centre opened and a gym and visitors' gallery were added to the PE Wing, with the main sports hall renovated. The school emphasizes Creativity, Activity and Service; clubs include MUN, Strategy Game Club, Robotics, Drama, and Yearbook. Around 600 students from more than 65 nations study here, with graduates going to universities worldwide. In 2022 ISHR attained carbon neutrality and was named Digital Place Lower Saxony.
