Located near the centre of Hannover, ISHR occupies purpose-built quarters on a spacious, green campus that includes the main school administration building, four wings of classrooms, a well stocked library, sports facilities, music and drama rooms and an auditorium, a playing field, science laboratories, an excellent ICT infrastructure, Kindergarten facilities, and a large dining room equipped with a professional kitchen. The campus is easily accessible by public transport and road, with nearby tram stops and regular bus services.

The extracurricular programme offers a variety of enjoyable, challenging, and meaningful activities to develop students' individual skill-sets. After-school activities for 2025/2026 are organized in three trimesters, with changes each term. Most activities are free of charge; GISST tournaments involve accommodation and travel costs; some activities by external providers may be charged.
International School Hannover Region (ISHR) is an independent, non‑profit IB school serving ages 3–18. It offers the full International Baccalaureate continuum from Kindergarten through Grade 12, including the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme. Instruction is in English, with German language and other subjects integrated as appropriate. ISHR is accredited by CIS and NEASC and is a member of AGIS. The campus sits on a green site near central Hanover, with a main administration building, four wings of classrooms, a well‑stocked library, science laboratories, ICT infrastructure, a dedicated Kindergarten, a dining hall with a professional kitchen, and music, drama rooms and an auditorium; plus on‑site sports facilities. In 2013 a new secondary centre opened and a gym and visitors' gallery were added to the PE Wing, with the main sports hall renovated. The school emphasizes Creativity, Activity and Service; clubs include MUN, Strategy Game Club, Robotics, Drama, and Yearbook. Around 600 students from more than 65 nations study here, with graduates going to universities worldwide. In 2022 ISHR attained carbon neutrality and was named Digital Place Lower Saxony.
