Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

Class 5 applications (school year 2025/2026)
The application window for our school is from 24 February to 28 February 2025. Applicants may arrive alone or together with their child for the admission interview at the school. Applications are possible at the following times:
- Monday, 24 February: 8:00–9:30, 10:30–12:00, 15:00–18:00
- Tuesday, 25 February: 8:00–9:30, 10:30–12:00
- Wednesday, 26 February: 8:00–9:30
- Thursday, 27 February: 8:00–9:30, 10:30–12:00, 14:00–15:00
- Friday, 28 February: 8:00–12:00

To minimize waiting times, please schedule an appointment at www.otis-elternsprechtag.de. If you experience technical difficulties, please contact us by phone to arrange an appointment.

Documents required:
- the registration form you received from the primary school, in original
- the child's half-year report in original
- the child's half-year report in copy
- our school's registration attachment:

After completing the registration procedure, you will receive by post a notice of your child's admission. Because admissions are coordinated city-wide, this will be in March.

In recent years, all children who applied could be admitted. If more children apply than places available, priority is given to siblings, then the distance from the last attended primary school determines. If there are verifiable circumstances that justify admission under hardship rules, please note this on the registration form and attach corresponding evidence.

Applications for the upper secondary level (gymnasial Oberstufe) (school year 2025/2026)
For the 2025/2026 school year, students may apply for admission to the gymnasial upper secondary level at Dortmund high schools via the centralized application system “Schüler Online” at www.schueleranmeldung.de. For a successful application, timely online registration in the period 07 February 2025–28 February 2025 is essential.

As application documents, please submit by 28 February 2025 in person at our secretary's office the following:
- signed application form from Schüler Online (with signatures of guardians)
- complete copies of all pages of the last two certificates with the issuing school's stamp
- curriculum vitae (typed or handwritten) with a photo, including the parents' phone number
- copy of the ID card (front and back)
- You can check the status of your application at any time via “Schüler Online”.

As a student of a Dortmund school, you will have received a password from your school. Please log in to our school's online system with this password. Important: Use the spelling of your name exactly as it appears on the password form issued by the school.

If you are not from a school participating in the “Schüler Online” system, you can also register without a password via www.schueleranmeldung.de by entering your name, first name, and date of birth and completing your data. You will be assigned a password by “Schüler Online” and can register online within the deadline at our gymnasium.

You can check the status of your application via “Schüler Online”.

Applications outside standard enrollment periods
If you wish to enroll your child outside the usual enrollment periods for new Class 5 or the gymnasial upper level, e.g., because you are moving, please contact our secretariat.
