From CM2 through terminale.

School Type

French international school offering general education (colle8ge and lycée); member of the AEFE network.

Additional Learning Support

Aide personnalise9e (personalized assistance) is provided as a dedicated period to offer targeted support.

Country Affiliation

France (AEFE network).

Day Structure

The timetable includes five instructional periods in the morning (8:00-8:45; 8:50-9:35; 9:50-10:35; 10:40-11:25; 11:40-12:25) with a midday break. A sixth period runs in the afternoon, varying by class (examples include 12:30-13:15, 13:15-14:00, and later blocks up to 16:30-17:15).

Fees

Application fees

- No application fee is charged for admission to the Lycée Français de Berlin. Parents complete the online/administrative registration and selection processes without a separate application charge.

Tuition fees (by year group / per term / per year)

- The Lycée Français de Berlin is a publicly funded school and does not charge tuition for any year group. There are no per-term or per-year tuition fees for students in any class. (Therefore, per-term and per-year tuition amounts are 0 for all year groups.)

Billing schedule and payment terms

- There is no regular tuition billing schedule because the school does not levy tuition. For items that do generate charges (see "Other costs" below), billing and payment terms are set on a case-by-case basis by the responsible office or external provider and are communicated to families at the time of the charge. Examination fees and certain external services are updated and invoiced annually or per event.

Boarding fees (if applicable)

- The school does not operate a boarding house. The Lycée previously had boarding facilities in the past, but the internat has been closed; no boarding fees currently apply.

Other costs and fees

- Examination fees: Certain national/official examinations (Diplôme National du Brevet, the EAF preliminary French exam, the Baccalauréat and related external exam sessions) carry examination fees that apply to candidates. These exam fees are charged where applicable and are updated annually; families are responsible for these examination charges and for travel costs if an exam session takes place off-site. The school's internal documentation confirms that such examination fees apply.

- Locker rental: Lockers (casiers) are provided by an external supplier (Mietra). Locker rental is a paid service governed by the supplier's contract terms (orders and renewals are managed through the locker provider). Families pay the locker provider according to that contract.

- School newspaper: The student newspaper (À propos) is sold at a small charge (example: €1 for students, €2 for adults for an issue).

- Extra‑curricular activities and trips: Voluntary after‑school activities (AGs) are offered free of charge. Class trips, study trips and certain extracurricular activities can incur costs (transport, accommodation, entrance fees) that families must pay; in some cases subsidies or assistance may be available from the school's Förderverein or through public assistance routes.

- Course materials and specific subject costs: Families are expected to cover personal school supplies, examination-related materials, and any subject-specific materials or fees that are not provided centrally. Costs for such items vary by class and by activity.

- No mandatory school uniform is listed among the school's standard requirements; no uniform fee is specified in the school's official materials.

Refund information

- There is no tuition to refund because the school does not charge tuition. Refund rules for any charged items (exam fees, external services, locker rentals, trip fees) follow the terms set by the organizing authority or external provider; examination and trip cancellation/refund conditions are governed by the examining authority or the provider and by the published event terms. The school's documents note that examination fees are updated annually and that the Förderverein may provide subsidies under certain conditions.

Fee payment options

- Because the Lycée does not collect tuition, there is no single school tuition payment channel. Payments for charged items are handled directly by the responsible office or external provider: examination authorities, locker supplier, travel/transport vendors, or third‑party service providers. Payment methods therefore vary by item and provider (typical methods used by such providers include bank transfer, direct invoicing and the provider's online payment systems). Families are notified of the accepted payment methods when a fee is charged.

Summary statement: The Lycée Français de Berlin does not charge application fees or tuition for any year group and does not offer boarding; the main charges families should expect are examination fees, occasional trip or activity costs, locker rental (through an external supplier), and small charges such as the school newspaper or optional materials—each charged and paid separately under the provider's or organizer's terms.

The school hosts roughly 830 students from about 50 nationalities and employs around 120 certified professionals. The curriculum combines the French state program with German elements, emphasizing languages: Latin from 5th grade up to Latinum, Ancient Greek from 4th grade to Graecum, English from 6th grade, and optional Spanish from 4th. Students may pursue Abitur and Baccalauréat diplomas. In science, options include mathematics, physics-chemistry, and earth sciences, with maths experts and maths complémentaires tracks. A strong intercultural profile is fostered through intensive French, daily international interaction, cultural activities, language exchanges, and international exchanges across Europe for students and staff.
