Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

LFVH is a direct-managed school within the AEFE network in Central and Eastern Europe. It offers a complete education from the Petite Section to Terminale with the French Baccalauréat or the Abibac double diploma. From modest beginnings in the facilities of the Institut Français, the school's buildings were inaugurated in 2002 and have since been enlarged. The programs are homologated by the French Ministry of National Education and by the state of Hesse; Ersatzschule status has applied since 2004 for the primary bilingual stream and since 2012 for the Sekundarstufe I (college), with Ausbildungsschule status since 2014. It belongs to ZECO, a network of 34 establishments in 14 countries, reflecting its international orientation.

Community

Language learning is at the heart of the educational project, with multiple languages taught and exchanges, culture trips, and AEFE network connections supporting this aim. LFVH welcomes students of all nationalities, francophones or those wishing to become, and encourages contact and exchanges with students from German and international schools. On occasions of meetings, concerts, trips, conferences and sports competitions organized with its partners, the school promotes openness, sharing and exchange.

Parent-Teacher Association

The Foyer socio-éducatif (FSE) is a non-profit association created over 20 years ago with its headquarters at LFVH and run by members of the school community. Each year the FSE co-finances educational trips and outings, provides playground equipment, financially supports performances, and finances the purchase of books for the BCD. The FSE has its own budget, funded by the school festival profits, class photo sales, ad sales in the Yearbook, and the organization of cultural or sporting events within the school. It enables students to develop their sense of responsibility and collaborative action through projects and activities, with the involvement of teachers. The leadership includes President Lopes (CPE), Secretary Westerburg (teacher), and Treasurer Appel (parent).
