Academic and Intellectual

The Student Life Programme provides 100+ opportunities for holistic growth across Athletics, Arts, and After-School Activities. The Arts section develops performing and expressive skills with orchestras, ballet, hip-hop, and choir, while After-School Activities include Speech & Debate and Lego Challenge League. Three Makers' Spaces support hands-on learning, including an 80sqm Makers' Space, and the Language Arts & Design Center houses design classrooms and a media production studio. ISST competitions are part of the programme, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is the standard pathway, with the Class of 2023 achieving a 100% DP pass rate and the Class of 2025 averaging 35 Diploma points.

Arts and Creative

The Arts section develops performing and expressive skills and includes orchestras, ballet, hip-hop, and choir. After-School Activities extend the arts with Pop-Up Art, Forest Explorers, Dungeons & Dragons, and Cooking Club. Teams participate in competitions such as Speech & Debate and Lego Challenge League. The school has three Makers' Spaces, including an 80sqm primary Makers' Space, plus the Language Arts & Design Center for woodworking, art studios, and media production.

Cultural and Language

Language A / Mother Tongue Programme provides instruction at MIS in students' mother tongue or best language. The Junior School Library offers more than 22 languages and over 22,000 books. The Language Arts & Design Center houses language classrooms.

Social and Hobbies

MIS offers 100+ after-school activities each year. After-School Activities include Dungeons & Dragons and Cooking Club, with teams that enter Speech & Debate and Lego Challenge League. The Student Life Programme provides experiences within and beyond the regular school day.

Community and Service

Tanzania Project has been MIS's community outreach since 1990. MIS students and coordinators travel annually to Tanzania to support local organizations and projects, including the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre's Occupational Therapy Clinic. Fundraising and trip blogs accompany the project, with MIS communications sharing stories and impact.

Leadership and Professional

MIS offers the Duke of Edinburgh Award for Senior School students as part of the Student Life Programme. The International Award includes Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels with four sections: Voluntary Service, Expedition, Skills, and Physical Recreation. The program aims to develop life skills, independence, and teamwork, and an awards ceremony recognizes participants.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

The Fitness & Athletics Building (FAB) includes four gymnasiums, a dance studio, a canteen, and changing facilities. Athletic teams train twice weekly and compete in ISST season-end tournaments. The campus also features outdoor spaces, organic gardens, and tracks for recreation and wellbeing.

Munich International School (MIS) is an independent day IB World School for ages 4–18 on a 55-acre campus near Starnberg. MIS offers the IB continuum—PYP, MYP and the Diploma Programme (DP)—with DP the senior pathway. IB authorization dates from 1980. In DP results, the Class of 2023 achieved 100% DP passes; the Class of 2025 saw 95% graduate with a Diploma, averaging 35 points and 106 diplomas awarded. Facilities support interdisciplinary, project-based learning. The Learning NeXus (opened August 2024) is a central hub with a flexible floor plan, the NeXus Library, Language Center and Makers' Lab. The Senior School houses a Performing Arts Center; the Junior School includes an auditorium and a gym. Outdoor education and sustainability are central, with extensive sports spaces and wilderness trails. The Tanzania Project and Duke of Edinburgh Award illustrate service and leadership. After-school activities include Speech & Debate, Pop-Up Art and Dungeons & Dragons.
