Munich International School sits on a 55-acre forested campus near Starnberg, offering extensive outdoor learning opportunities and a sustainability focus. The Schloss, built in 1875, is the campus administrative center. The Junior School (Early Childhood and Grades 1–4) forms an interconnected complex with an arena-style auditorium and easy access to the nurses' office, cafeteria, library, gardens and play areas. The Learning NeXus, opened in August 2024, is a purpose-built, flexible co-working space at the heart of MIS to support collaborative, interdisciplinary learning. The NeXus library provides study spaces and IT support, while the LADC houses woodworking and design classrooms, art studios, and a large Makers' Laboratory with a media production studio. The campus also features a Performing Arts Center in the Senior School and a dedicated Junior School Gym, along with a range of indoor and outdoor spaces for learning and recreation.
MIS features a quadruple gym in the Fitness & Athletics Building, a regulation-sized track and field with wilderness trails surrounding the campus for cross-country use, a gymnastics program with trained staff, and a dance studio with a ballet bar and heated floors. There are multiple indoor and outdoor basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts, with outdoor courts available during recess and after school.
The Learning NeXus is a purpose-built space opened in August 2024 that acts as a central hub for interdisciplinary, project-based learning, with a large, flexible floor plan and IT and library support. The NeXus library provides dedicated library staff and a range of study spaces, collaboration pods, and seminar seating, guided by the four I's of the learning culture: Individual, Interdisciplinary, Interaction and Inspire. The LADC (Language Arts & Design Center) houses woodworking and design classrooms, art studios, and a Middle & Senior School Makers' Laboratory with a media production studio. The Senior School's Performing Arts Center and the Junior School Gym support arts, design and physical education, respectively.
The MIS Student Life Programme offers Athletics, Arts, After School Activities, Duke of Edinburgh and Clubs. Athletics includes Golf, Ski, Tennis, Volleyball, Football/Soccer, Cross Country, Track & Field, Swimming, Basketball, and Softball, with after-school sessions and ISST tournaments.
Munich International School (MIS) is an independent day IB World School for ages 4–18 on a 55-acre campus near Starnberg. MIS offers the IB continuum—PYP, MYP and the Diploma Programme (DP)—with DP the senior pathway. IB authorization dates from 1980. In DP results, the Class of 2023 achieved 100% DP passes; the Class of 2025 saw 95% graduate with a Diploma, averaging 35 points and 106 diplomas awarded. Facilities support interdisciplinary, project-based learning. The Learning NeXus (opened August 2024) is a central hub with a flexible floor plan, the NeXus Library, Language Center and Makers' Lab.
