History

Tema International School was established in 2003 with a vision to be an international school of choice that produces world-class citizens. It is a private coeducational P-12 school and IB World School authorised to offer the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). The DP graduate is described as an articulate leader who is intelligent, balanced, independent and committed to service and lifelong learning. TIS is a founding member of the Tema International School Sports Association (TISSA), which coordinates interschool competitions in athletics, swimming, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, soccer, handball, and basketball. Facilities support science, music, arts, sports and ICT, with a campus wifi network enabling access to online resources.

Community

TIS has a strong school community with regular communication through weekly bulletins, frequent events inviting parents, online reporting, and an open-door policy with the Principal. Service-learning involves partnerships with Kofi and Ama Foundation, Liter of Light Ghana, and the Red Cross Society. A wide range of after-school and weekend clubs and activities are offered, including robotics, MUN, arts, music, sports, and more. The school hosts an annual play that showcases student talents and has included productions such as The Lion King and The Beauty and the Beast.

Tema International School is a private, coeducational P-12 IB World School in Tema, Ghana, offering the IB continuum: PYP for ages 3–12 on the Primary Campus, MYP for ages 11–16 on the main campus, and the Diploma Programme for ages 16–19, with CAS, TOK and the Extended Essay. Founded in 2003, the school aims to develop world-class citizens through inquiry, service learning and intercultural understanding. The Primary Campus houses open flexible learning spaces, while the main campus provides science, arts, music and information technology facilities, dedicated IT labs and a campus-wide wifi network, plus a project centre with a media room, dance room and theatre studios. The sports complex includes a football pitch, basketball, volleyball, tennis and squash courts, a pool and gym. TIS participates in Tema International Schools Sports Association events and is a member of ISSAG. A strong service-learning ethos underpins after-school clubs in MUN, robotics, debates, and the performing and visual arts.
