Kingston International Kindergarten offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) in a bilingual English–Putonghua setting and serves children aged 3 to 5. Four concept-driven PYP units guide inquiry-based learning, and every class has one native English teacher and one native Putonghua teacher with instruction in both languages throughout the day, including Circle Time. Reading and writing are developed in English and Chinese, with phonemic awareness taught and a formal phonics program beginning in Year One.
Arts are integrated through the IBPYP with a focus on music, art, and drama. A specialist music teacher delivers music sessions, and students have access to a library and a dramatic play room as part of the curriculum.
English and Putonghua are the languages of instruction, and traditional Chinese characters are used. Each class has one native English teacher and one native Putonghua teacher, with daily Circle Times in both languages.
