Chhatralaya dormitories are on-campus student hostels. The basic living unit is the Chhatralaya, managed by the Resident House Master, with a full-time Matron/Warden. Separate Chhatralayas exist for boys and girls; the boys' dormitories are Mukundalaya, Govindalaya, Krishnalaya and Keshavalaya, while the girls' dormitories are Madhavalaya, Gopikalaya and Radhikalaya. The dorms are spacious and fly-proof, with common bathrooms, hot and cold water, water coolers, beds with mattresses and pillows, mosquito nets and wardrobes. Common rooms include televisions, reading materials and indoor games.
A uniform rule applies for all students regardless of where they live.
Dining Hall serves delicious vegetarian meals prepared under hygienic conditions. The cuisine includes Continental, Chinese and all-Indian dishes. Food is prepared and served by a professional catering service, and the stewards are called Anna or Bhaiya by the students.

The school is an undertaking of the Central Chinmaya Mission Trust, Mumbai. It is managed by a Governing Committee headed by Swami Swaroopananda, the Head of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide. The Resident Director is Swami Anukoolananda.
The Chinmaya International Residential School (CIRS) is a co-educational, residential secondary school for Grades V–XII in Coimbatore, India. It offers CBSE for Grades X and XII and the IB Diploma Programme for Grades XI and XII, with students choosing CBSE or IB in the final years. English is the medium of instruction.
