GICLM supports intellectual, social, emotional, and ethical development through strong pastoral guidance and a personal tutor system. The curriculum and co‑curriculars include leadership programmes, Model UN, sports, the arts, entrepreneurship, and community service to foster wellbeing, resilience, and global citizenship. Students are encouraged to voice their ideas and develop empathy as they engage beyond the classroom. Parents are valued partners in this journey, and staff model the values the school expects from students. The wellbeing of students is integrated into daily school life.
GICLM has an Access and Inclusion Policy that defines inclusion as an ongoing process to remove barriers and increase access to learning. Admission includes screening to identify support needs, and an Individual Education Plan may be created with targeted interventions. Extended classroom and tutor support are provided, and external professionals may be engaged as required. The policy applies to all students, staff, board members, volunteers, and parents, and aligns with IB and Cambridge boards.
English is the common language of the classroom and assessments, with English as the language of instruction. The school offers additional languages including Hindi, Marathi, French, German, Spanish, and Mandarin. There is currently no EAL specialist provision; extra classes and small group learning are provided as required for individual language needs. Students are placed into language courses based on entry assessments and prior language experience.
GICLM provides mental health support through a full‑time counsellor. Weekly PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health and Careers Education) lessons address safeguarding and mental health topics, and specialists support students and parents with relevant workshops. The school emphasises wellbeing as part of pastoral care, with a student‑centred approach to learning and development.
Safeguarding at GICLM is a holistic system with policies, practices, and procedures to protect student health and wellbeing. All staff undergo annual POCSO training, and recruitment requires references and a police good conduct check. There are clear reporting systems with a personal tutor and a pastoral lead, a full‑time counsellor, and monthly safeguarding reports to senior leadership. Parents are involved at the first stage of concerns, and external agencies may be engaged as needed. The school maintains a range of safeguarding policies including wellbeing, child protection, and compliance.
