Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

JAIN International Residential School (JIRS) was established in 1999 through the efforts of Dr Chenraj Roychand under the JAIN Group. It is a dynamic, co-educational boarding institution with over 750 students from Class V to XII, offering CBSE, IGCSE and IB curricula. The school serves a diverse student body drawn from countries including Germany, the UAE, Thailand, Africa and Nepal. The campus blends a traditional Gurukul-inspired setting with modern infrastructure to foster creativity, innovativeness and intellectual independence, aiming to prepare students to become courageous, aspirational global leaders. A holistic approach, a broad curriculum and dedicated faculty—supported by 36 national and international coaches—underpin JIRS's vibrant academic community.

Community

JIRS promotes a vibrant school community that includes numerous departments, associations representing various disciplines, cultural and social unions, and a large student community mentored by 36 national and international coaches. The school's Community Reach program highlights youth development initiatives and sustainability experiences, including nature trails and service-oriented camps. Initiatives such as Think Green, Nature is the Best Teacher, and One-Earth foundation camps foster leadership, teamwork and environmental awareness among students. The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is part of the school's broader engagement with youth achievement and community service.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school maintains active parent involvement through a Parents' Corner and a mentoring framework described in the Parents Handbook. The handbook references Parent-Teacher Meets (PTA Meets) and a Mentor system, with mentors providing progress updates to parents and families. Parents are invited to participate in school functions and communication with teachers occurs via the UOLO instant-school parent communication app. The Parents Handbook also notes the “Mentor book” and the availability of PTA meeting discussions during these events. These elements together describe a structured, ongoing partnership between families and the school.
