How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

Enter Early Childhood – Grade 1
1. Fill out the prospective data by clicking the Apply Now button. The Admission team will contact you to discuss next steps. Submit any available school reports if applicable. This begins the BIS admissions process.
2. Meet with the Principal. A meeting with the Principal discusses the candidate's background and BIS fit. The Principal answers questions and provides guidance on BIS programs. This meeting advances the enrollment process.
3. Scan and send available school reports (if any). The Admissions team reviews the documents submitted. Additional information may be requested as needed. Submitting reports supports the placement decision.
4. Schedule a trial day to experience a day in the life of BIS. The trial day allows observation of BIS routines and classroom practices. BIS staff observe interactions and gather impressions. The trial day informs placement considerations.
5. Meet with the Principal. The Principal reviews the information gathered during the admissions process. This meeting offers a final opportunity to discuss fit and address remaining questions. After the meeting, BIS communicates the placement timeline.
6. Placement results will be shared in approximately 3 days. BIS communicates placement outcomes within about three days. You will receive details on next steps after the results are shared. If placement is confirmed, enrollment proceeds.
7. Complete the admissions documents for enrollment. Submit the enrollment forms according to BIS guidelines. Ensure all required fields are completed and signatures obtained. Any missing documents will be requested.
8. Complete the payment. Make the required payment as instructed by BIS. Retain payment confirmations for your records. This payment finalizes the enrollment process.
9. Upload all documents into the Student Information System as informed by Admissions team. Upload the finalized documents into the BIS Student Information System as directed by the Admissions team. Verify that all documents are correctly uploaded. Confirmation of enrollment will be provided after upload.

Enter Grade 2 – Grade 5
1. Fill out the prospective data by clicking the Apply Now button. The Admission team will contact you to discuss next steps. Submit any available school reports if applicable. This begins the BIS admissions process.
2. The Admission team will contact you. They will guide you through the next steps of the process. You may receive instructions on what to prepare next. Communication will continue as the evaluation progresses.
3. Scan and send school reports from the past 3 years. The Admissions team reviews reports to assess prior academic history. Additional documents may be requested if needed. Submitting complete reports supports the placement decision.
4. Make an appointment for the placement test: Math and Reading. An appointment is arranged to assess mathematical and reading skills. Results guide initial placement decisions. You will be informed of next steps after testing.
5. Make an appointment for the WIDA screening if necessary. WIDA screening is conducted if required to assess language proficiency. The outcome informs language support needs and placement considerations. You will receive directions based on the screening results.
6. Schedule a trial day to experience a day in the life of BIS. The trial day provides exposure to BIS routines and classroom practices. BIS staff observe interactions and gather impressions. Trial outcomes inform placement decisions.

Bandung Independent School (BIS) is an International Baccalaureate continuum school for learners aged 2 to 18, offering the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme. Located on a 1.2‑hectare campus just north of Bandung's city center, BIS serves expatriate and local families and educates nearly 200 students. The school is operated by Yayasan Komunitas Belajar Internasional Bandung as a non‑profit, guided by a mission, vision and values developed with involvement from parent volunteers. BIS is the only IB Continuum school in Bandung. The Primary Years Programme is provided in Elementary with daily English and Mathematics and a focus on developing international-mindedness; the MYP was authorized in 2022. The Diploma Programme includes Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity and Service. Facilities include a Performing Arts Center with a theatre, a 160‑seat English‑language library—the largest in Bandung—and spaces for Maker, culinary learning and science; plus outdoor play areas, sport facilities and science labs to support inquiry and hands‑on learning.
