Facilities Overview

The BIS campus sits on a spacious site with a Performing Arts Center that includes a theatre, lighting, and rehearsal rooms. The campus also features a 160-seat theatre, the largest English-language library in Bandung, multiple learning spaces, and extensive science and technology facilities. It houses 31 classrooms, two fully equipped science labs, a Computer Lab, and dedicated spaces for innovation, including a Maker Space and a Baker/Culinary Learning Center. Outdoor and recreational spaces include primary and early childhood playgrounds, an Interdisciplinary Garden, a turtle and fish pond, a canteen, a coffee shop, and both indoor and outdoor sports facilities.

Sports Facilities

Facilities support sports include a Soccer Field and Mini Soccer Field; a 25-meter Swimming Pool; a Swimming Pool; Basketball facilities include a Basketball Court and two Covered Courts for basketball.

Academic Facilities

The campus houses two fully equipped science labs, a Chemistry Room, and a Biology Room, and a Computer Lab. The Largest English-Language Library in Bandung supports research and learning. Innovation spaces include a Maker Space/Design Lab and a Baker Space/Culinary Learning Center, complemented by an Interdisciplinary Garden and a New Learning Garden K-12.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The Extracurricular Activities program covers more than 36 activities across six holistic development areas: Leadership, Well-Being, Community, Academic, Service Learning, and Creativity. Activities include House System, Environmental Club, Model United Nations, Student Council, Chess Club, French Club, Indonesian Writing Workshop, Lego Club, Robotics, English Language Club, Engineering Club, Student Choir, Gamelan, and the BIS musical band B: Inizio.

Bandung Independent School (BIS) is an International Baccalaureate continuum school for learners aged 2 to 18, offering the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme. Located on a 1.2‑hectare campus just north of Bandung's city center, BIS serves expatriate and local families and educates nearly 200 students. The school is operated by Yayasan Komunitas Belajar Internasional Bandung as a non‑profit, guided by a mission, vision and values developed with involvement from parent volunteers. BIS is the only IB Continuum school in Bandung. The Primary Years Programme is provided in Elementary with daily English and Mathematics and a focus on developing international-mindedness; the MYP was authorized in 2022. The Diploma Programme includes Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity and Service. Facilities include a Performing Arts Center with a theatre, a 160‑seat English‑language library—the largest in Bandung—and spaces for Maker, culinary learning and science; plus outdoor play areas, sport facilities and science labs to support inquiry and hands‑on learning.
