The school provides robust social-emotional support through a dedicated Student Wellness Coordinator and a School Counselor who promote student well-being. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons are delivered in classrooms to equip students with essential life skills, emotional intelligence, and resilience. The School Counselor offers individual counseling and provides support to teachers and parents. The Student Wellness Coordinator also organizes a broad range of extracurricular activities to enrich the school experience and support holistic development.
The school creates a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. The Learning Support Specialist provides individualized assistance to students with neurodiversity, working with teachers, parents, students, and external experts to develop tailored strategies and support plans to ensure each student succeeds.
English is the language of instruction. The Multi-lingual Learning Support program screens new students on entry to identify language needs, and returning students are tested annually or as needed using the WIDA English language proficiency assessment, which evaluates reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students are placed into a three-tier system: Tier 1 requires no additional English support; Tier 2 receives in-class push-in language support in Humanities and Science; Tier 3 attends a dedicated English Language Acquisition class with continued push-in support. The BIS English Club (ECA) runs year-round to support Tier 2 students.

Bandung Independent School (BIS) is an International Baccalaureate continuum school for learners aged 2 to 18, offering the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme. Located on a 1.2‑hectare campus just north of Bandung's city center, BIS serves expatriate and local families and educates nearly 200 students. The school is operated by Yayasan Komunitas Belajar Internasional Bandung as a non‑profit, guided by a mission, vision and values developed with involvement from parent volunteers. BIS is the only IB Continuum school in Bandung. The Primary Years Programme is provided in Elementary with daily English and Mathematics and a focus on developing international-mindedness; the MYP was authorized in 2022. The Diploma Programme includes Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity and Service. Facilities include a Performing Arts Center with a theatre, a 160‑seat English‑language library—the largest in Bandung—and spaces for Maker, culinary learning and science; plus outdoor play areas, sport facilities and science labs to support inquiry and hands‑on learning.
