Place-based, immersive learning fosters global citizenship, cultural understanding and harmonious community living in nature. Programs are customized and linked meaningfully to curriculum, EOTC/WWW, CAS, and The Duke of Edinburgh Award. Activities include working on a regenerative farm, farm-to-table meal preparation, and community waste management; expeditions and hikes to mountains, hot springs, waterfalls, orchards, and UNESCO rice terraces; bamboo crafts, cultural rituals, teambuilding and leadership challenges; and camp tasks such as collecting firewood, harvesting produce, and caring for animals.
CCS Music Centre offers individualized vocal and instrumental tuition, ensemble/band coaching, and performance opportunities. Tuition is available for piano, guitar, violin, ukulele, drum kit and voice, with free after-school ensembles including Junior Choir and Rock Band Workshop. Performance opportunities include Sunset Concerts, productions, Battle of the Bands and performances at other school events. There is an additional fee for CCS Music Centre activities; current prices are published in the school shop and communicated to parents before each term.
Model United Nations is a student-led simulation of the real United Nations; students become delegates representing countries and participate in research, writing, debate, proposals and diplomacy with peers from across Bali and internationally. The program builds public speaking, collaboration, and awareness of current events and geopolitical issues, aligning with the IB Learner Profile and CCS Core Values. CCS MUN has participated in and won awards at international conferences such as BaliMUN, YMUNT, YMUNK, THIMUN Singapore, MYMUN, and ISWA MUN.
CCS offers a range of after school activities (ASA) in Primary and Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) in Secondary to support holistic development and extend learning beyond the classroom. There are more than 50 activities each term, spanning creative arts, sports, coding, academics, games, cooking and music. Sign-ups are via the SchoolsBuddy app, and the ASA/ECA programme runs from Term 1 through Terms 2-4 with a minimum of four participants for each activity.
Camps provide a unique adventure with a focus on Balinese and Indonesian culture, environmental issues, balance and resilience, and local service-learning projects. Camps develop core values and include reflection on academic, social and emotional growth. Gotong Royong - Service Learning aligns with CCS values and global citizenship, integrating service projects into the curriculum and connecting CCS with local and global communities. During Years 7-11, CCS students undertake semester-long Gotong Royong projects; Years 12-13 follow the CAS programme with extended commitments, including projects addressing health, education, the environment and other community issues, rooted in Roots and Shoots practice and conducted with collaboration among learners, teachers, staff and parents.
The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is a youth achievement qualification that credits students for their commitment to extracurricular activities. The Award is offered in over 140 countries and supports university and job applications. Students complete a Skill, a Service and a Physical Recreation weekly, with Adventurous Journeys including hiking and camping that require teamwork and resilience. The program is complemented by Model United Nations, which provides leadership and diplomatic experience through country representation and conference participation.
Sport operates under the Bali Schools Sport Association (BSSA), with Soccer in Term 1, Volleyball in Term 2, Basketball in Term 3, and Swimming, Cross-Country and Athletics in Term 4. Practices occur before or after school, and weekly schedules are communicated by email; games include league fixtures and BSSA Finals. Participation requires meeting academic obligations, with students not allowed to participate if they have outstanding major work. These activities promote physical wellbeing and balanced lifestyles for CCS students.
Canggu Community School (CCS Bali) is an international school for students aged 3 to 17 in Bali. It offers a blended curriculum: English National Curriculum for Early Years and Primary, Indonesian National Curriculum across year levels, and a Middle School adds core subjects plus Indonesian, Spanish and French. The Diploma Programme (IB DP) and Cambridge IGCSE are offered; CCS is a Cambridge International Exams Centre. CCS opened in 2001 and is governed by Yayasan Swamitra Internasional; it is fully accredited by CIS and WASC, with reaccreditation through 2025. The campus blends modern spaces with Balinese architecture, bordered by gardens and rice fields, and features science labs, a black box theatre, an amphitheatre, digital and performance music rooms, and an ICT lab. Primary Campus offers a 25m pool, a soccer pitch, and a multifunction hall. Extracurriculars include 50+ activities per term, Model United Nations, Duke of Edinburgh, and service programs globally.
