Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

GMIS Jakarta is a dynamic learning community that propagates lifelong learning and responsible citizenship through a challenging, multidisciplinary, internationally transferable curriculum. It aims to develop self-confidence in each student, teach adaptability and problem solving, and prepare students to face changes vital to globalism. It develops good personal traits including a strong work ethic, self-discipline, sportsmanship and self-esteem. It is an IB World School authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme, IB Middle Years Programme, IB Primary Years Programme and IB Career-related Programme.

Mental Wellbeing

GMIS's PYP focuses on the total growth of the developing child, addressing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic welfare. It integrates social, physical, emotional and cultural development into learning. Community Service and CAS activities foster empathy and a positive attitude, supporting well-being and responsible citizenship. The school mission emphasizes self-esteem, resilience, and respect, with intercultural awareness as a core value.

Safeguarding

Bullying of any kind is forbidden and strict action will be taken if found. The privacy and dignity of pupils are protected, and pupils are responsible to the school authorities for their conduct both in and outside the school. All pupils are expected to speak in English while in the school.

GMIS Jakarta is a private day international school in Indonesia for students aged 3 to 18. It offers IB programmes—Primary Years, Middle Years, Diploma—and is authorized to offer Cambridge IGCSE, O Level, and A Level examinations, as well as examinations through the Indian Board of Schools in Indonesia. Instruction is in English, with Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, Hindi, and French taught as essential second languages; students are encouraged to maintain their mother tongue. Established in 1950, GMIS is the oldest international school in the country and is registered with Indonesian Ministry of Education. The campus includes high-speed Internet, computer and science laboratories, language labs, a library, an auditorium, a gym, a playground, and a swimming pool. The curriculum combines IB and Cambridge frameworks to meet diverse needs. Distinctive features include a Gandhian philosophy, Pancasila-guided multiculturalism, community service partnerships, and activities such as TEDxYouth@GMIS, stage productions, debates, and sports and arts programs.
