Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

HighScope Indonesia is part of the global HighScope movement, which began with the Perry Preschool Study led by David Weikart in 1962. The Indonesian chapter started in 1996 with eight students in Pondok Indah. It has grown to 3,206 students across 15 school networks, with 1,196 teachers trained, 710 HighScope graduates, and graduates admitted to 292 universities across 18 countries. HighScope Indonesia Institute promotes nationwide adoption through teacher development programs, quality training, site services, training materials, and curriculum development for elementary through high school. The establishment of HighScope Indonesia in 2000 aimed to balance academics with character education and expand the HighScope approach across the country.

Community

HighScope Indonesia Alfa Indah hosted the Family Fun Run 2025 on September 20, 2025 at the North Plaza of Gelora Bung Karno. Hundreds of participants from the SHI Alfa Indah community joined in a casual, inclusive event designed to celebrate togetherness, health, and family learning beyond the classroom. The event featured student performances and alumni presence, emphasizing the values of active learning, collaboration, and democratic participation. Redea Institute supported the event, and SHIPA, the HighScope Indonesia Parents Association, played a leadership role in engaging families and strengthening school–family partnerships.

Parent-Teacher Association

SHIPA is the HighScope Indonesia Parents Association for Sekolah HighScope Indonesia Alfa Indah. The Head of SHIPA for Alfa Indah is Ibu Sandra Dewi Rosida. SHIPA leads parent involvement in school life and supports community events, helping to strengthen the school–family partnership. The association works alongside the school to provide opportunities for parents to engage in learning experiences and to collaborate with teachers and school leaders.
