Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Jakarta Multicultural School was originally known as the Jakarta Montessori School and operated in a rented space of the International Sports of Indonesia (ISCI), located by the Situgintung lake. JMS appealed to parents seeking a school with a low learner-teacher ratio that nurtured learners' individual needs and personality. In 2007, the school was acquired by Ms. Edriana Noerdin and adopted the Cambridge and International Baccalaureate curriculums, and was renamed the Jakarta International Multicultural School. To mark this new beginning, JMS relocated to a 2-hectare, lush property located in the Situgintung area, only 15 minutes away from the Lebak Bulus MRT station. JMS maintains a low learner-teacher ratio and a bully-free environment, with teachers and staff knowing each learner by name.

Community

JMS is a mosaic of learners, teachers, parents, and staff from different countries and backgrounds, with learners representing around 15 countries. Festivals and cultural events are celebrated to express multicultural diversities. JMS provides a bully-free school environment and maintains a low learner-teacher ratio that enables close attention to each learner's potentials and challenges. This multicultural emphasis fosters respect, empathy, and cross-cultural collaboration among the JMS community.
