History

Putera Sampoerna Foundation initiated Sampoerna Academy to improve education in Indonesia. Sampoerna Academy Surabaya opened as the sixth campus in Surabaya in 2019, at Pakuwon Indah in West Surabaya, in a building designed for international quality and to incorporate technology such as iPads, Google Chromebooks, and smartboards. The Surabaya campus offers Playgroup, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Elementary levels, with campuses located at Pakuwon Indah and Grand Pakuwon (Lakarsantri and Banjar Sugihan). The school follows an international curriculum framework, combining STEAM learning with the Cambridge International curriculum, and English is the instructional language, with Bahasa Indonesia and Mandarin taught as well.

Community

Community events are highlighted on the Surabaya campus pages, including Family Sports Day, Indonesian Independence Day celebrations, and parent orientations. The STEAM Expo 2026 is featured as part of the STEAM program. Weekly school assemblies reinforce community and celebrate achievement, and Parent-Teacher Conferences provide progress updates to families.

Located in West Surabaya, Sampoerna Academy Surabaya opened in 2019 as the sixth campus of the Putera Sampoerna Foundation to advance Indonesian education. The campus serves Playgroup through Primary, with Grand Pakuwon offering Middle and High School, on Pakuwon Indah and Grand Pakuwon campuses designed for international quality and digital learning. English is the language of instruction, with Mandarin taught in collaboration with Beijing Language and Cultural University. The school combines STEAM through project-based learning with the Cambridge International framework for Primary and Secondary, and offers the IB Diploma Programme as an option for Grades 11-12. Early Learning follows the IEYC. Facilities include technology-integrated classrooms, a spacious library, a science laboratory, dedicated arts and music studios, gyms and sports facilities. Extracurricular activities include Art & Craft, Band Jam, Choir, Coding, Chess, Public Speaking, Dance and Yoga, among others, encouraging creativity, collaboration and well-being. The campus emphasizes global citizenship and inquiry.
