The school places social and emotional learning at the core of its program. SEL is delivered through a dedicated SEL curriculum taught in all classes, reinforced by daily activities, and supported by a dedicated SEL teacher. A Community Building program, student council, mentorship programs and clubs foster leadership, collaboration, and positive relationships, with leadership development and parent involvement reinforcing SEL beyond the classroom. SEL also includes digital and media literacy as part of the framework.
English is the instructional language at Sampoerna Academy. English language proficiency supports opportunities to study domestically or internationally, and graduates achieve competency in Bahasa Indonesia and Mandarin.
Mental wellbeing is supported through the SEL program and access to trained school counsellors who work with students individually. The school provides resources to help parents understand and support their children's social and emotional development at home, reinforcing wellbeing beyond the classroom.
The safeguarding framework defines abuse and neglect, with school counsellors trained to take appropriate action and follow reporting procedures. Awareness-raising for students and teachers, guidance for parents, and access to counselling options are provided; warning signs are identified and reported, and measures include crisis resources and monitoring of safety, including social media and cyberbullying policies. CCTV monitoring may occur in common areas to support safety.
