Sekolah Cikal Jakarta is part of Cikal, a community of lifelong learners led by Yayasan Cinta Keluarga in partnership with PT Sekolah Cikal, founded in 1999 by Najelaa Shihab and Dewi Soeharto. Cikal has celebrated about 25 years of growth and continues to offer a personalized, competency-based digitally integrated curriculum across levels to meet diverse learning needs. The Cikal framework centers on 5 Stars Competencies and the 5 Cs—Compassionate Connection, Comprehensive Concept, Constructive Continuity, Challenging Choices, and Community Context—to guide learning, planning, and assessment. It aligns with international and national frameworks, including The International Baccalaureate, Cambridge Assessment International Education, and the Indonesian National Curriculum.
Sekolah Cikal operates as a community of lifelong learners and collaborates with educational and learning communities across Indonesia for parents, students, and teachers. Its networks include Yayasan Guru Belajar, Kampus Pemimpin Merdeka, Guru Belajar.org, Kampus Guru Cikal, and Teach First Indonesia. The school fosters community through a Houses system and diverse events, such as Pesta Rakyat 17 Agustus, sports activities, art events, and book and/or social service weeks.
Sekolah Cikal Jakarta offers an international-aligned, competency-based curriculum across Preschool to Year 12, combining IB (PYP/MYP/DP), Cambridge Primary and Secondary, Cambridge IGCSE, and a Bespoke Curriculum. The Curriculum Circle links Core (5 Star Competencies), the Sekolah Cikal Way (the five Cs), and an outer circle of Programs tailored to students with digital personalization. Nine learning phases guide progression; Year 9–10 integrate Bahasa Indonesia, The Arts, Social Studies, Service Learning, Mathematics, Physical Health Education, Personal Social Education, Religion Studies, Sciences, English, and Design & Technology; Year 11–12 add Personal Social Education, Physical Health Education, Religion Studies alongside other subjects.
