Sekolah Global Indo-Asia (SGIA) was founded in 1998 to serve the educational needs of the national and international community living in and around Batam, Indonesia. Today SGIA accepts students from Pre-School through the 12th Grade. SGIA is the only International Baccalaureate World School in Batam offering the PYP (Primary Years Programme) and DP (Diploma Programme), and is authorized as a Cambridge International Examinations School. English is the medium of instruction in SGIA, with mother-tongue support in Bahasa Indonesia as well as Mandarin to prepare students to be competitive in the global market. SGIA places the students at the centre of the teaching-learning process, embraces the diversity of its students, parents, teachers and non-teaching staff and aims to provide a comprehensive and balanced programme focusing on acquiring a wide range of significant knowledge, developing essential skills, fostering positive attitudes and providing opportunities towards service and love for humankind.
The Lunar New Year celebration at SGIA was a vibrant reflection of the school's diverse and inclusive community. SGIA also hosts community events such as K-2 Family Day, among other cultural and school-wide activities, that bring together students, parents and staff. Sekolah Global Indo-Asia (SGIA) is an international school in Batam, Indonesia, serving ages 3 to 18. The campus offers a blended curriculum with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for K1–Grade 5 and the IB Diploma Programme (DP) for the upper level, alongside Cambridge International Examinations, including Lower Secondary, IGCSE, and Advanced/AICE, and an Indian Curriculum option. The IB DP was authorised in 2016 and emphasizes Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity and Service. The school provides English as the medium of instruction, with Bahasa Indonesia mother-tongue support and Mandarin available from Kindergarten 3. SGIA's facilities include a purpose-built Early Childhood Center, air-conditioned classrooms across primary and secondary, science and IT labs, two libraries, a large gymnasium, a canteen, and grassed pitches. After School Activities include sports, dance, arts and coding, with clubs such as TEDxYouth and Harvard Model Congress Asia.
