The school places students at the centre of the teaching-learning process and embraces the diversity of its students, parents, teachers and non-teaching staff, exploring opportunities to respect and learn from a variety of cultures, attitudes, beliefs and experiences. The Primary Years Programme is transdisciplinary, inquiry-based and student-centered, and develops knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills and the attributes of the IB Learner Profile through collaborative inquiry and student voice.
Learning Support and Tutorial are provided; SGIA uses differentiated instruction and offers extra lessons during after-school hours, which last up to an hour, with private tutorials advised as needed to support learning.
The main language of instruction is English. Indonesian is taught for local and international students as mandated by the local authority, and Mandarin is offered from Kindergarten 3 (5 years old) and above. The school offers the EAL (English as an Additional Language) Programme for elementary students in Grades 1–5 with non-English speaking backgrounds, delivered through pull-out classes by a specialist EAL Teacher. To support English development, parents are encouraged to provide reading materials, educational videos and games, and other activities at home.
After School Activities provide opportunities for physical and creative engagement to support a balanced learning experience. Activities include Taekwondo, basketball, badminton, soccer, volleyball, table tennis, traditional dance, modern dance, yoga, art and book clubs, coding, and more. Daily physical activity is linked to overall well-being, and a healthy body supports a healthy mind.

Sekolah Global Indo-Asia (SGIA) is an international school in Batam, Indonesia, serving ages 3 to 18. The campus offers a blended curriculum with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for K1–Grade 5 and the IB Diploma Programme (DP) for the upper level, alongside Cambridge International Examinations, including Lower Secondary, IGCSE, and Advanced/AICE, and an Indian Curriculum option. The IB DP was authorised in 2016 and emphasizes Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity and Service. The school provides English as the medium of instruction, with Bahasa Indonesia mother-tongue support and Mandarin available from Kindergarten 3.
