SWA opened in July 2008 and the first cohort of Grade 12 graduates completed in June 2012. The school provides an international education experience from Toddler to Grade 12. SWA emphasizes a vibrant student life and strong community with extensive extracurricular activities. The Life at SWA section describes clubs and programs including Debate Club, Sports Teams, Arts and Creativity, and Civic and Social Outreach projects. Parents participate in events organized by the Parents Association, and the school invites involvement in assemblies, performances, competitions and exhibitions. Recent community events include padel court activities that bring families together.
The Parents Association is the representative body of the school's parent community. PA representatives are elected from each grade level and meet regularly under an executive committee to advise the educational leadership on matters relating to improving education and to determine a programme of activities which will promote the involvement of parents in school events. The school promotes the Parents Association as an essential partner in achieving the School's Vision, Mission, and Values. Parents are regularly invited to join school activities including assemblies, student performances, competitions and exhibitions. The PA helps facilitate open communication between educators and families and supports events that strengthen the SWA community.
Sinarmas World Academy, Thamrin, is an international school serving learners from 1 to 17 years old. The curriculum blends Cambridge and IB programs to offer a coherent international pathway: Early Years and Primary follow the Cambridge Primary Curriculum, delivered in English, while the Middle Years and Diploma years implement the International Baccalaureate programmes (IB MYP and IB DP) alongside Cambridge IGCSE.
