Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

SIS was established in 1996 with the support of respected figures from the Singapore government and Raffles Institution. It began in a small North Jakarta site and moved to South Jakarta in 1999 to better serve the expatriate community. A permanent site for SIS International opened in Bona Vista, South Jakarta in January 2002, expanding facilities and capacity with enrollment from at least 25 nationalities. The SIS network now includes Pantai Indah Kapuk and other campuses in Indonesia, offering Singaporean, Cambridge, and IB curricula in a family‑like environment that prioritises personalised learning.

Community

Co-Curricular activities are offered at SIS Pantai Indah Kapuk and are coordinated by trained staff, with leadership opportunities often arising from the student council and integrated to promote teamwork and personal growth. Our Parent Support Group (PSG) fosters communication and involvement, with PSG playing an active role in daily school life and parents supporting teaching and learning at school and at home. The curriculum includes cross-disciplinary projects and a strong emphasis on community service, with secondary and JC students completing service hours as part of the school's learning approach. SIS also emphasizes a family‑like environment enriched by languages and the Arts, with students benefiting from a supportive, close-knit school culture.

Parent-Teacher Association

Parent involvement is facilitated through the Parent Support Group (PSG), which acts as a PTA‑like body. The PSG emphasizes open communication between parents and staff and supports the teaching and learning process in school and at home, with parents and families empowered to help their children prepare for the future.
