Stella Maris School began from a simple idea by a 52-year-old woman to realize her late husband's dream of founding a home for orphans. On May 15, 1995, Drg. Strela and her husband Lukman founded Stella Maris School, which initially offered Playgroup, TK, and SD. It started in a shop-house in BSD Sector XIV, Tangerang; two years later a branch opened in Gading Serpong to meet rising demand, and SMP was added. In 2004 the school earned ISO 9001-2000 certification, and in 2005 launched the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program through Stella Maris International School at Cluster Vatikan, Gading Serpong, with a 2007 expansion to Preschool, Primary, Secondary Junior and IB Diploma plus an Entrepreneurship program across BSD and Gading Serpong.

Our mission is to encourage students to apply ethical, moral, and family values in an international context to become responsible global citizens based on Christian values, building a community that nurtures lifelong development with an entrepreneurial character. The network includes multiple campuses, such as Stella Maris BSD, Stella Maris Gading Serpong, Stella Maris Jambi, Stella Maris Pontianak, Stella Maris Karawaci, and Sunnyville Kemayoran, with entrepreneurship integrated across Preschool through IB Diploma.
Stella Maris School in BSD and Gading Serpong, Indonesia, delivers a curriculum spanning international systems for ages 2 to 18. The programme blends Cambridge International Primary for preschool, Cambridge IGCSE for junior high, IB Diploma Programme for senior high, with KB/TK and SD/SMP/SMA levels aligned to the school's aims. English is the language of instruction from preschool onward. A feature is the Entrepreneurship program embedded from Preschool through the IB Diploma, reinforcing practical skills alongside academics. The primary school emphasizes character formation through a Christian ethos and mentoring, while junior and senior high foster inquiry, independent learning, and verbal and written communication. The school has ISO 9001-2000 certification (2004) and launched the IB Diploma in 2005 via Stella Maris International School in Vatican Cluster, Gading Serpong. Co-curriculars include futsal and basketball, arts such as theatre and painting, science and computing clubs, and intercultural events like Stema Festival and International Festival.
