ISB started as a dream to educate expatriate children living in and around Bogor in 1974. The school was named Bogor Expatriate School (BES). In 2017, after government education reforms, BES became The Intercultural School of Bogor. ISB embraced the National Curriculum and gained a whole-school rating with the Indonesian Department of Education and offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the National Curriculum concurrently. ISB turned 50 in 2024.
ISB is an English-teaching intercultural school with a strong community spirit offering progressive and student-centred education for ages 2 to 15. The campus includes an Early Learning Centre, a multi-purpose resource centre, a playing field and outdoor courts in the tree-filled heritage area of Taman Kencana, Bogor City. Diversity is a strength and the school fosters an inclusive learning community. Alumni stories from around the world reflect enduring connections formed at ISB.
The Intercultural School of Bogor (ISB) is an international school in Bogor, Indonesia, offering the IB Primary Years Programme as a Candidate School alongside the Indonesian National Curriculum. The school serves ages 2 to 15 and provides an Early Learning Centre, a multi‑purpose resource centre, a playing field and outdoor courts. Located in Taman Kencana heritage area, ISB emphasises an intercultural, value‑driven community and holistic development. Instruction is in English, with international teachers and a diverse student body. Upper grades receive a school‑issued iPad to support learning, and technology is integrated across subjects, with emphasis on coding, AI, digital citizenship and 21st‑century skills. Indonesian Language and Arts and Culture are taught under the National Curriculum, with options for Christian religion or other. ISB began in 1974 as Bogor Expatriate School, celebrated 50th anniversary in 2024, renamed in 2017. The school combines IB experiences with the National Curriculum for future opportunities.
