Established by Master Cheng Yen in 1966, Tzu Chi Foundation embodies kindness, compassion, joy, and selfless giving. Guided by Buddhist teachings, it focuses on charity missions and has grown globally for over 50 years, bringing together people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. In Indonesia, Tzu Chi extended its presence through the Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation in 1994, expanding its charitable work into education with Sekolah Cinta Kasih Tzu Chi Cengkareng in 2003. In 2011, Tzu Chi School – PIK, SPK (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama) was founded. The school provides a foundation in Bahasa Indonesia, English and Mandarin to prepare students as global citizens.
Tzu Chi School emphasizes Tzu Chi Humanistic Culture through daily lessons on etiquette, respect, and mindfulness. Students engage in a range of activities—from music and sports to service learning—to develop character and leadership. Through service learning, students are taken into the community to apply what they learn, teaching compassion and wisdom beyond the classroom. This holistic approach connects the school with the wider community and supports the development of compassionate global citizens.
