Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

Approaches to Learning (ATL) defines the focused strategies and outlook that characterize an IB class. ATL develops Thinking Skills, Communication Skills, Social Skills, Self-Management Skills, Research Skills, Information Literacy and Media Literacy, while ATT focuses on teamwork and collaboration. The IB Continuum is followed from the Primary Years Programme through the MYP to the Diploma Programme, sustaining these skills across year groups. In MYP Year 5, students complete a Personal Project that consolidates their learning.

Arts and Creative

Arts is a defined subject group in the MYP, including Music (MYP 1-3) and Visual Arts. The MYP curriculum lists eight subject groups, with Arts included as a core area of study. The school hosts exhibitions showcasing student work, such as the Primary School Exhibition and the MYP Personal Project Exhibition.

Cultural and Language

Language provision includes Italian A and English A for language and literature, and Italian B, English B, Chinese B, Spanish B, French B and German B for language acquisition. The program supports intercultural understanding and global engagement within an IB framework.

Social and Hobbies

DIS Happenings include events such as the Primary School Exhibition and the MYP Personal Project Exhibition. The DIS Happenings page also lists the DISMUN club as an activity. These activities provide opportunities for collaboration, presentation and social engagement.

Community and Service

The Annual Service Calendar lists major service projects, including Banca degli Occhi, with science and social initiatives integrated into learning. The Ocean Race project is another service-focused unit linked to studies and action. CAS and Service are integrated into the Diploma Programme and increasingly into the Primary years, with a Service Handbook documenting approaches and experiences.

Leadership and Professional

Carriera Alias is a formal program offered by the school, with an official Regulation (Regolamento Carriera Alias) and an Activation Request as part of the program. The program includes a confidentiality agreement and related administrative processes.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

The Canteen provides a balanced, nutritious menu for primary and middle school students, with an international menu offered monthly as part of a Language Acquisition project. A bus service is available upon request for elementary and middle school students.
