The Middle School centers on the IB Middle Years Programme as its core, with a dual-strand curriculum offering both international (English) and Italian pathways and adding two additional foreign languages. Language A is English and Italian, and Language B options include Spanish, German, or French (or Italian/English for non-native speakers). The High School pathway is a four-year programme designed to lead toward the IB Diploma Programme, which is recognized worldwide; in Italy the IB Diploma provides legal equivalence to the Italian state diploma. The school emphasizes multilingualism and translanguaging, and provides a Personalised Learning Pathway and an Elective Enrichment Programme to support individual learner goals.
The student/teacher ratio is very low and class sizes are small.
University Pathway: The final year of High School includes university applications, and students proceed to universities across the world after completing the four-year High School programme; the Diploma Programme is designed to prepare students for higher education and is recognized by universities and governments worldwide; in Italy the IB Diploma provides legal equivalence to the state diploma.

GIS Monza embraces a holistic, student-centered approach to education. The community emphasizes collaboration, mutual respect, open communication, and supportive relationships, helping every member feel valued and empowered. As an IB World School, the school develops well-rounded, lifelong learners and supports them to thrive intellectually, socially, and emotionally. It is part of the GIS Group of International Schools Suisse, sharing a mission to provide local and international families with an international education that is broad, balanced and challenging. The school fosters curiosity, creativity and critical thinking, preparing students to engage with the world with confidence and empathy.
GIS Monza provides a limited level of support for students with mild-to-moderate learning difficulties. Admission decisions consider the level of support needed and may involve in-class or out-of-school support, typically at the family's cost. The school places a high value on multilingualism and provides English as an Additional Language (EAL) provision, with dedicated staff to support language acquisition. EAL includes a Beginner Programme with dedicated sessions to build vocabulary, and an Intermediate Programme with small-group and in-class support to help students access the curriculum. An exception to the open admission policy exists for students with identified learning or behavioral issues where additional support may be necessary on an individual basis.
English as an Additional Language is provided with dedicated staff to support learners. In IB settings all teachers are language teachers with a strong emphasis on language acquisition. The Beginner Programme offers sessions to build emergency vocabulary, moving onto phonics and reading, and acquiring vocabulary used within the unit of the class. The Intermediate Programme provides additional support with small-group work to refine spelling and grammar and to participate in class. Languages of instruction include English and Italian.
The wellbeing of our entire community is of utmost importance to the Leadership. We aim to maintain a supportive and happy place to be for our students, teachers and parents. Personal, Social and Physical Education (PSPE) in the IB-PYP plays a crucial role in the holistic development of students, focusing on personal well-being, social skills, and physical health. Yoga has been introduced into the curriculum as part of the PSPE and wellbeing programme, taught by a qualified Yoga teacher, to promote mindfulness and well-being. Yoga supports students' self-reflection and self-management, helping them balance emotions and approach challenges with resilience.
Safeguarding is integrated into GIS Monza's approach to student welfare. The staff are committed to a safe, supportive learning environment and include a safeguarding framework led by an interim Safeguarding Officer. The staff profile notes an Interim Safeguarding Officer (1 yr), highlighting dedicated oversight of safeguarding. Teachers emphasise that when children feel safe they can take risks, ask questions, and grow, reflecting a safeguarding-centered culture. The school also emphasizes pastoral support and well-being as part of safeguarding.
1. Enrollment is open to all students likely to benefit from GIS Monza's educational programme and to all families who share and commit to GIS's vision and values. The Admissions Policy guides the admissions process and will be discussed with new families during Admissions Meetings. 2. Following the Admissions Policy, students can be enrolled into GIS Monza throughout the year. Class placements are based on age. 3. If a class has a waiting list, priority is given to siblings of current GIS students, applicants from the international community, and applicants who have confirmed that they will accept a place, in the order of their initial expression of interest. 4. Competence in English is not a prerequisite for admission; international students transferring to Italy may be admitted regardless of English ability and EAL provision will be made available by the school. Italian nationals and students transferring from Italian schools are admitted on the basis of the projected support needed to access the educational programme at GIS and on the basis of a negotiated agreement as to how the family should contribute to specific EAL provision. 5. Exceptions to open admission may occur for students with identified learning or behavioral issues where additional support is necessary on an individual basis; admission may be denied at the school's discretion if the student's needs cannot be met, such as if the student has been expelled, the family does not have a visa to live in Italy, the family does not align with the GIS philosophy, or the student's needs fall outside GIS Monza's available supports. 6. Villasanta office: Via Giacomo Matteotti 8, Villasanta; +39 039 228 7034; +39 389 542 0721. Trial days are welcomed, and visits can be booked to help families experience the school firsthand.
