English is the language of instruction for the IB Primary Years Programme, delivered in English. An Italian Language Programme is available, with Italian A (Language Proficiency) and Italian B (Language Acquisition) courses, and the Italian Strand integrating the Italian national curriculum from Grade 2. All students study Italian from ages 5 to 16, either as a language acquisition course or as a literature subject. In Primary, there is English immersion with native teachers to foster bilingualism in English and Italian, and Russian is offered as a co-curricular language.
The school teaches in English with English immersion supported by native English-speaking teachers. Italian is taught within the IB framework via the Italian Strand, integrating the Italian national curriculum. Italian A is designed mainly for Italian students but is open to non-native speakers who have achieved B2. Italian B is designed for learners of Italian as a foreign language, beginning in Grade 2.
Global Camps and Global Exchange Programme offer immersion experiences in languages and cultures. Exchange programmes connect ISC students with other Inspired schools across Europe.
The International School of Como (ISC) in Italy offers the IB Continuum for ages 2 to 18, with the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme, plus the IB Career-related Programme. It also offers Indian and Japanese curricula. The school operates entirely in English with native English-speaking teachers and supports bilingual English-Italian language development. ISC is the only IB World School in Como offering the full IB Continuum, and it provides an Italian Stream option that integrates with the Italian State curriculum, enabling ISC learners to sit Italian examinations if they choose. The campus spans more than 10,000 square metres, with a planned expansion of about 5,000 square metres including a new IB Centre, a secondary wing, science laboratories, a robotics lab, art studios, music rooms, a theatre, a library, and sports facilities.
