The International School of Lago Patria is located near Naples in Lago Patria. The school opened in 1976 as an alternative school for American children with U.S. military personnel stationed in Naples. In 1986, under the direction of Mrs. Antonella Di Trana, it expanded and was recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education to provide an international education for all children in Lago Patria and surrounding areas. The school provides a learning environment with a mission to meet the needs of internationally minded families through the medium of English, supported by a stated mission and philosophy. It is accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIM) and serves Early Years through Upper School, with a current roll of over two hundred students.
The ISLP hosts a range of community and cultural events throughout the year. Upcoming events include Mamma Mia - Theater Lab Show and End-of-Year Theatre Performance, as well as a Science Fair and Third Class Assembly with Families, and Grammar Week. The school also publishes regular newsletters with news and updates for the ISLP community.
Parent involvement is supported through formal structures and regular engagement opportunities. A Parent Representative Election takes place each year (e.g., October 30–31, 2025 for the 2025/2026 school year). Parents participate in governance through elected representatives and attend regular Parent/Teacher conferences. Close communication with parents is recognized as invaluable, with regular parent meetings, reports, emails, letters and the student diary. Open Day events are held twice yearly to welcome prospective families (typically November and January), and the school conducts parent presentations and other events to involve families.
