The school supports social-emotional learning through school-wide initiatives and events. On Human Rights Day, 4e3 students organized a reading brigade to share texts promoting freedom, equality and respect. The school also participates in the National Day of Resilience and hosts activities such as the AEFE Raid Vert, which emphasizes solidarity, teamwork and environmental awareness.
The school pursues inclusive education for pupils with special educational needs and provides ongoing support to students and their families. Pupils with special educational needs include those with chronic illnesses; dyslexia, dysorthography, dysphasia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia; intellectually gifted pupils; pupils with disabilities; and those with significant learning or adaptation difficulties. English is taught at the primary level as part of the language program from kindergarten. A third language is introduced from age five to six. Writing begins at the end of cycle 2 and becomes more important in cycle 3. The program emphasizes comprehension and oral production, with six hours of English per month and differentiated instruction (full class and small-group) from CE2 onward. From CE2, some subjects are taught in Italian through EMILE, and an English@home space provides practice materials such as dialogues, vocabulary, songs, videos and games.
Mental wellbeing is supported through initiatives such as Journée nationale de la Résilience and Human Rights Day activities, fostering resilience, awareness and reflection among students.
Safeguarding follows AEFE's inclusive approach to education. The school provides procedures and documents to support students with disabilities, including Convention d'accompagnement à la scolarité d'élève en situation de handicap; Livret d'information sur l'aide humaine; Convention autorisant la présence d'un AESH; and guidance to address the educational needs of pupils.
Lycée Français Chateaubriand de Rome is a French international school located in Rome and a member of the AEFE network. It serves students from ages 3 to 18, from kindergarten through terminale, across campuses: Strohl-Fern for younger levels, and Patrizi and Malpighi for the lycée. The school is homologated by the French Ministry of National Education, confirming that its programs and organization follow French requirements while offering Italian language instruction. Curriculum emphasizes the French general path after middle school, with Seconde, Première and Terminale, and options such as ESABAC (French-Italian double diploma) or LCN (Langue et Civilisation Nationale). An English-language European Section is available in History-Geography or Sciences. The baccalaureate results are excellent and enable access to higher education programs in France, Italy and beyond. Facilities include CDI and library resources, a kindergarten-to-lycée library network, a cafeteria at the Malpighi site, and a paid transport service operated with the APE.
