History

Abroad International School Osaka is located at 2-14-3 Hayashidera, Ikuno-ku, Osaka. The exact founding year is not publicly listed, but Cambridge International Examinations approved AIS Osaka to offer the Cambridge Primary programme in 2016. It is an IB Continuum School, authorized for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), with the Diploma Programme (DP) scheduled to launch in August 2026; the school has been listed as an IB School since 2019. In 2023 the campus moved to a new site in Hayashidera with expanded facilities and a revised grade structure. The languages of instruction are English and Japanese.

Community

AIS Osaka maintains an active, globally minded community in Ikuno-ku. Community events occur several times a year, including visits by Fire and Police Departments to explain safety and citizen responsibilities, and World Culture events where instructors from multiple countries share their culture with students. Japanese culture days (Setsubun, Tanabata, etc.) and field trips such as farm visits and museum outings are also part of on-campus life. The annual calendar includes Grandparents' Day, Cooking Day, Sports Day, Halloween, Family Fun Night, and a Year End Performance, with Parents' Day offered as well.

Parent-Teacher Association

The Abroad PTA works closely with parents and teachers to improve the school environment and organizes a wide range of events for the school community. Notable activities include the PTA book fair held during the International Children's Festival in 2022 and ongoing family-focused events tied to cultural and academic activities. The PTA has supported fundraising efforts, such as Turkey and Syria earthquake relief fundraisers in March 2023. Staff events and appreciation activities are coordinated with PTA involvement, including meals for staff during special occasions. Regular classroom-facing opportunities for parent engagement include Parents' Day and Family/Community events, and PTA communications are accessible through the school's PTA pages and postings.
