Outdoor sports include swimming, football, water-polo, basketball, cricket, and tennis. Indoor sports include table tennis, badminton, chess, and taekwondo. The school provides facilities for these sports: a football pitch, tennis court, basketball court, volleyball/throw-ball pitch, swimming pool, badminton court, and a table tennis table. Sports participation is organized around four houses: Nyerere, Mandela, Kenyatta, and Gandhi. The school competes in inter-school competitions and has achieved trophies and medals in chess and football tournaments, including events at Moi Stadium.
The school offers nursery, primary, and secondary programmes. It follows Pearson Edexcel i-Primary for primary years and the International Lower Secondary (iLS) for Years 7–9, International GCSEs for Years 10–11, and AS/IAL and A-Levels in the Upper Secondary, under the British National Curriculum. In the Primary section, subjects include French, Religion, Social Studies (History and Geography), Music (theory and practical), PSHE, Physical Education, Swimming, Computing, Global Citizenship, Science, Mathematics, and English/Literacy. The school provides three languages, with Year 9 students able to select up to two. The curriculum emphasizes reading, logical and critical thinking, and independent collaboration to ensure a smooth transition from primary to secondary, supported by experienced teachers. The Pearson Edexcel Examinations board is our preferred choice of syllabus in all the subject areas.
Clubs include Wildlife Club, Presidential Awards, Cookery Club, Chess Club, Music Club, and SUSO (Stand Up Shout Out). Additional optional classes include Tae-Kwondo, Yoga, and Chess. The school participates in the Kenya Science and Engineering Fair (KSEF) and runs Model United Nations programs, with students traveling to Nairobi for conferences. On Wednesdays, inter-house competitions cover quizzes, debates, and performances, and talent shows are held each term. Assemblies occur on Wednesdays to showcase student talents.
Jalaram Academy, located in Kisumu, Kenya, offers the British curriculum from nursery to upper secondary. The Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage; Primary uses Pearson Edexcel i-Primary for Years 1–6, with subjects including French, Religion, Social Studies, Music, PSHE, P.E., Swimming, Computing, Global Citizenship, Science, Mathematics and English. By end of Year 6 students sit i-primary Edexcel exams in Numeracy, Literacy, Science, Computing and Global Citizenship. The Senior Section (Years 7–13) follows the British National Curriculum with IGCSE in Years 9–11 and AS/IAL and A-level options (21 subjects). The school is accredited by Pearson Edexcel and ABRSM. Three languages are offered in the primary years, with Year 9 students able to select up to two.
