Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Guidance and counselling form an integral part of the student experience at Woodcreek School. The program supports emotional, social and personal development for students from Kindergarten to Key Stage 4, developed in collaboration with teachers, parents and the school administration. The School Counsellor runs group sessions on social skills, friendship, anger management and study/personal organisational skills, and offers individual counselling as needed. The approach integrates counselling with the curriculum to support holistic development and well-being.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Woodcreek School delivers individualized learning tailored to meet each student's needs. The school emphasises an inclusive community and provides teaching designed to meet students' unique requirements. The learning approach is focused on personalising teaching to support progress for all learners. The information indicates a commitment to personalised support to help students achieve their potential.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Woodcreek School provides English language support through the NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY). Students study English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and the EAPPU module as part of the IFY, with English language pathways. Students who complete EAPPU are exempt from IELTS and similar English proficiency tests. The IFY offers pathways to over 50 NCUK partner universities worldwide.

Mental Wellbeing

Woodcreek has a Health and Wellness centre on campus providing medical care through the school nurse, who supports primary care and coordinates medical appointments. The counselling department offers confidential individual and group sessions, and a pastoral care team provides emotional support. Boarding houses are staffed with residential mentors trained in first aid, and regular safety drills are conducted. The school promotes wellbeing with nutritious dining options and a no-alcohol/no-drug policy on campus.

Safeguarding

Pastoral care is a central element of life at Woodcreek School, with student wellbeing at the forefront and all staff sharing responsibility for care. The pastoral care programme is integrated throughout teaching, learning and the school structure, with teachers assigned to student groups to monitor progress and provide support. Woodcreek collaborates with educational psychologists, government agencies, parents, medical experts and community partners to develop talks, screenings and intervention programmes. The aim is to create a safe, secure and well-structured environment where students feel valued and supported.
