Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school prioritizes emotional well-being as part of the learning program. Students are supported to be successful, resilient learners who are well-rounded, happy, and able to approach challenges with positivity. The Wellness Curriculum consists of five areas: CONNECT, BE ACTIVE, TAKE NOTICE, KEEP LEARNING, and GIVE. Monthly sessions on mental health and wellness are integrated into the program, helping students explore feelings, manage emotions, and reflect on how choices affect themselves and others.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

OTR provides language and educational support to ensure every child has access to the program. In-class and out-of-class support are available, with staff trained to help pupils settle into the classroom and participate. Language support programs assist new students in settling in quickly and integrating into the school community.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school is a bilingual English and French institution. Language support programs help new students settle in quickly and access the curriculum.

Mental Wellbeing

The Well-Being program focuses on mental wellbeing. It includes monthly sessions on mental health and wellness and a five-area curriculum designed to help students regulate emotions, stay healthy, and build resilience.

Safeguarding

The school is a KiVa antibullying school; bullying of any form is not tolerated. KiVa uses evidence-based prevention and intervention tools, with online monitoring and annual feedback to support safe, respectful school life.
