Sunway International Schools are part of Sunway Education Group (SEG), which has more than 30 years of private education experience and is owned and governed by the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation. SIS Kuala Lumpur began in 2008 at an interim campus with high school offerings, and the first cohort consisted of 25 students, making it Malaysia's first international school to offer the Canadian curriculum. In 2012, SIS moved to a newly constructed single-building campus adjacent to Sunway College and began SIS House boarding. In 2016, the campus expanded with the East Block to provide more classrooms and facilities. In 2023, SIS Kuala Lumpur launched the Cambridge International Programme (IGCSE) and moved to an 8-acre, GreenRE-certified, purpose-built campus capable of housing up to 3,000 students.
SIS's community is international; teachers come from Canada and other parts of the world, and as IB World Schools, SIS builds an international-minded faculty. SIS students hail from more than 50 countries, bringing diverse cultures to the campus. Parents are an important part of the SIS community, with the Parent Council at both SIS campuses organizing events such as Teacher's Day and International Day, supporting Open Days and volunteering as needed. The SIS community is part of the Sunway Education Group, a network of 18 learning institutions with about 30,000 students, offering opportunities for university study, scholarships, and lifelong learning.

Sunway International School Sunway City Kuala Lumpur is part of the Sunway Education Group with over 30 years of education experience. Located in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, the campus serves ages 4 to 18. The school offers a Canadian (Ontario) curriculum licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Education, Cambridge Primary, IGCSE, Cambridge Lower Secondary, Cambridge Upper Secondary, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Students can earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma credits, follow Cambridge pathways via the Cambridge International Programme, and progress to the IB Diploma or Cambridge A Levels after Cambridge. The KL campus occupies a 9-acre green-certified site capable of housing up to 3,000 students, with plans for a new 7-acre, GreenRE Platinum-certified campus to replace the current site. Facilities include a FIFA-certified football turf, an Olympic-sized pool, and multiple courts. The school runs ECAs, including Biology Club, Mandarin Club, and Model United Nations, and over 30 options.
