The school places pupil welfare as its first and foremost priority. A pastoral support system provides pupils with a familiar adult to listen, challenge, and engage them in learning inside and beyond the school day. Pastoral care is central to BASM and informs every aspect of its work with pupils. The House System gives each pupil a place where they are recognised as individuals, and their unique needs, potential, and capabilities are understood and supported.
The British Academy School Marrakech (BASM) is a coeducational, non-denominational British Overseas School in Morocco, founded in 2019 as a philanthropic, not-for-profit enterprise. It provides English-language education and follows the English National Curriculum from the Early Years through to Year 13. The Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) is mapped to Key Stages 1–4, and a Sixth Form will be introduced in September 2024 for Years 12–13. Examinations culminate in Edexcel iGCSE and international A levels. The school serves ages 3 to 18 and uses the EYFS and the National Curriculum for England and Wales as the teaching framework. BASM is fully accredited as a British Overseas School and was the first British school in Morocco recognised by the UK Government. The proprietor is Professor Tariq Obaid. The campus offers science support and a range of extracurriculars, notably Chess Club and Football, underpinned by a strong pastoral care system and a House System to support pupil welfare and individual development.
