Founded in 2019, BASM is a privately owned, philanthropic, not-for-profit entity. The proprietor is Prof. Tariq Obaid. It is a fully accredited British Overseas School and was the first British school in Morocco to be recognised by the British government. BASM models itself on the best of British independent schools, using the EYFS and the English National Curriculum as the teaching framework, with Edexcel iGCSE and international A levels. It is non-denominational and operates as a family school, seeking to involve siblings and parents in a shared school experience.
The BASM calendar includes a range of events and performances such as the Winter Show 2025, Green March 2025, Halloween 2025, Pink Day 2025, and the Summer Show 2025, as well as the Marrakech English Book Festival. Past events include Halloween 2024 and Pink Day 2022, illustrating an ongoing tradition of cultural and community activities.
The British Academy School Marrakech (BASM) is a coeducational, non-denominational British Overseas School in Morocco, founded in 2019 as a philanthropic, not-for-profit enterprise. It provides English-language education and follows the English National Curriculum from the Early Years through to Year 13. The Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) is mapped to Key Stages 1–4, and a Sixth Form will be introduced in September 2024 for Years 12–13.
