English is the primary language of instruction and communication at LAMIS. Myanmar is taught to all students either as an Additional Language or as a Mother Tongue, with Nursery and Pre-K learning in a bilingual English-Myanmar classroom and Kindergarten and above receiving timetabled Myanmar lessons. Mandarin is taught to all students at levels adjusted for different abilities, with teachers who are bilingual in Mandarin and English and an emphasis on both oral and written forms. An English as an Additional Language (EAL) program provides support to ensure equal access to the curriculum, and Mother Tongue development is supported through philosophical recognition and logistical assistance, such as helping families locate Mother Tongue teachers and providing space and technology for after-school classes.
LAMIS uses a bilingual model for Myanmar language instruction in Nursery and Pre-K, delivered by co-teachers fluent in English and Myanmar. English is the language of instruction for all classes, while Myanmar language use increases in Myanmar classes. In Myanmar classes, a combination of English and Myanmar is used, and Myanmar instruction becomes more complex as students progress.
LAMIS is a Mandalay-based international school occupying a brand-new campus in central Mandalay. It offers the IB continuum across Early Years, Primary (PYP), Middle Years (MYP) and Upper Secondary (IB Diploma). English is the language of instruction for most classes, while Myanmar is taught as an additional language in Myanmar classes, with Mandarin offered as an additional language. The campus features a library with English, French, and Burmese books, a canteen, and extensive play areas including football and basketball facilities, plus an indoor physical education room. The school provides English as an Additional Language (EAL) support and Mother Tongue development, and offers after-school language classes. LAMIS promotes inquiry-based learning and global-mindedness, with home-delivery and IT support services to assist learning. An online program complements on-site learning, including a cap on class size for online sections.
