In August 2019, Asia Strategic Holdings welcomed the first classes at Yangon American International School on Yangon-Insein Road, marking the school's founding. The school operates under Asia Strategic Holdings, a London-listed investor with a diversified portfolio that includes education-related brands in Myanmar. Yangon American is positioned as Myanmar's IB school with an authorized Primary Years Program (PYP) and a Middle Years Program (MYP) candidate, aligning its curriculum with IB standards alongside American frameworks. The campus was established with a state-of-the-art facility and includes multiple campuses, such as a Main Campus and an Early Years Village. Asia Strategic Holdings' broader educational portfolio underpins Yangon American's ownership and strategic direction.
The school community is multinational, with students from many countries, shaping an internationally minded environment. The curriculum emphasizes inquiry-based learning and social-emotional well-being as part of its IB-aligned approach. The campus supports a continuum of education with facilities that include a Main Campus and an Early Years Village, enabling cohesive learning from early years through middle grades. The IB learner profile—including attributes such as inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, and caring—guides student learning and community interactions.
Yangon American International School maintains a Parent Teacher Student Organization that welcomes and supports the whole family, fostering a strong, collaborative community. There is an open-door policy that encourages regular communication between parents, teachers, and the Head of School. The School Life section shows that families can engage with After School Activities, Festivals and Events, Field Trips and Excursions, Student Projects, and Student-Led Conferences, which the PTA can support through volunteer involvement and participation. Parents are valued as important contributors to school life and to partnerships that strengthen home–school connections. The PTA emphasizes collaboration among parents, teachers, and children and encourages involvement within the broader school community to support initiatives and events across the academic year.
