Facilities Overview

Eerde is the only international school in the Netherlands to offer day school, flexible boarding and full boarding facilities, located on a tranquil country estate in Ommen about 2 hours from central Amsterdam. The moated castle dates from 1715 and houses a library used for supervised study and teaching 21st century information skills. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the castle basement bistro where students, teachers and staff eat together. The school building is near the boarding houses and the castle, with classrooms equipped with traditional and contemporary learning resources. The Orangery is the art room, and a sports hall and gym are on site; equestrian activities are available through a local stable and there are extensive outdoor activities. The school has more than 25 nationalities represented among students and staff.

Sports Facilities

The Sports Hall & Gym are available to students as part of the curriculum and for boarding pupils. There are ample opportunities for physical exercise in the castle's natural surroundings. All students have PE lessons in their timetable from primary through IB2. A wide variety of after‑school sports is offered, including soccer, basketball, rugby, volleyball, chess, cross‑fit, horseback riding, tennis and golf, with school teams competing in interschool events. Riding and equestrian activities are available via a partnership with the local stable De Hazelhorst, with options to ride or even bring your own horse.

Academic Facilities

The castle library is central to learning, used for supervised study and developing 21st century information skills. The school building near the castle features classrooms equipped with both traditional and contemporary learning resources. The Orangery houses the Art Room for design, drawing, painting and modelling. Learning Enrichment provides extra tuition in maths or English and supports SEN and exceptionally gifted students, with learning coaches assisting across Primary, Secondary and IB departments. Small class sizes and individualized attention support a personalised learning path.

The musical offering includes choir, musical productions, and private lessons (piano, drums, guitar). Equestrian life is available through a partnership with the De Hazelhorst stable, with riding lessons and the option to bring your own horse. Model United Nations is an annual feature with conferences in Europe. Week Without Walls is a two‑week program of outdoor learning and team building, and a Career Carousel brings professionals to share experiences.
