The school uses a child-centered approach to teaching, with differentiation for visual, kinesthetic and auditory learners. Lessons are planned so every student learns; learning is personalised with differentiated instruction and occasional one-to-one support. Learning emphasises active thinking and problem solving through open-ended tasks. Learning support is structured, rigorous and targeted to help students improve academically. The Guidance and Counselling Unit provides services for personal/social and career development to help students become self-directed and independent learners.
The school has a Special Education Needs (SEN) department with qualified staff. The SEN program has enabled students with special needs to undertake external exams such as IGCSE, WAEC, NECO and Checkpoints since 2019. The school provides speech and behavioral therapies for students who may require them at no additional cost. Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are prepared for each learner at the start of every session and reviewed termly. Shadow support is available for some learners with special needs.
The Guidance and Counselling Unit provides services for personal/social, educational and career development for all students. Counseling helps students understand themselves and make informed choices. Personal guidance includes individual or group counselling, using an eclectic approach. The unit provides educational and career guidance, including scholarship opportunities and university admissions support (IELTS and SAT). A mentorship program pairs students with school parents to support educational and personal development.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
