In September 2003, Ibadan International School (IIS) was established by the Zard Foundation to fulfill the educational needs of both the local and expatriate communities in Ibadan. It started with 23 students and now has over 400 students from more than 15 nationalities, with over 90 staff members. IIS offers an international curriculum: the Pre-school and Junior School follow the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and it is an IB World School; in the Senior School, students follow the IGCSE curriculum developed by the University of Cambridge Examinations Board. The Zard family, who settled in Ibadan in the early 1930s, established IIS as a formal contribution to the community. It is a co-educational day school serving children from age 6 months (Creche) to age 15 (Year 4).
The school encourages parents to come into classes and share their knowledge through lectures and workshops. Regular Parent-Teacher Association meetings, Open-days and Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences provide opportunities to monitor and stay informed about their children's progress. Regular Parent Workshops keep parents abreast of the Curriculum taught in the school.
PTA meetings are held every term to discuss general school issues. For concerns related to individual children, Parent-Teacher Conferences (second term) and Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences (third term) are available.
