English is the language of instruction across the Cambridge and IB curricula. Arabic and Spanish are taught as well; Spanish is a mandatory subject up to Grade 8 in Lower Middle School. The Cambridge Curriculum offers Arabic and English language studies, and the IB Diploma Programme provides English as the language of instruction with Arabic A (Language and Literature) also available. Library resources support English, Arabic and Spanish.
The English as an Additional Language (EAL) immersion programme provides an immersive experience into English for academic purposes. The aim is to scaffold the learning of English and to narrow the gap with peers in English proficiency. The student receives support from an EAL teacher, with the main subject or homeroom teacher coordinating to ensure aligned materials. The sessions total five hours per week, consisting of three integrated in-class sessions and two one-to-one pull-out sessions.
