Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

New World International School was founded in 2020 to become one of the leading schools in Oman. The campus is located in Muscat, within easy reach of international residential areas and the Muscat International Airport. It delivers the Cambridge International Curriculum in combination with the SEK Future Learning Model. SEK Education Group became the operator after a partnership signed on June 15, 2023, with operations managed from August 2023. The school opened Grade 11 in September 2025 and was authorised as an IB World School on June 3, 2025, aligning its program with international standards while continuing to celebrate local heritage.

Community

NWIS has a vibrant and welcoming community that emphasizes global citizenship while respecting Omani heritage. Regular cultural events spotlight diverse cultures; for example, International Day was celebrated with representation from 23 countries in January 2024. The school hosts family-focused events such as Sustainability Day, International Fair, and Cafe Latte, providing opportunities for families to connect with teachers and staff. Parent involvement is encouraged through Workshops for Families, which are led by school leaders and cover topics from curriculum structure to strategies for literacy, numeracy and social-emotional development.

Parent-Teacher Association

NWIS does not publish a formal Parent-Teacher Association as a separate entity on its official materials. Instead, parent involvement is organized through structured initiatives such as Workshops for Families, which are led by NWIS pedagogical leaders including the Primary & KG Coordinator, the IT Integrator, the Middle School Coordinator and the Principal. These workshops cover topics such as curriculum structure, learning approaches, and home-learning strategies, and they provide hands-on experiences of NWIS teaching methods. The school also runs Community & Family Events that encourage parents to participate in activities such as Sustainability Day, International Fair, and Cafe Latte, strengthening school-family partnerships. An International Day event also involves parents, reflecting the community's emphasis on inclusivity and shared learning. NWIS operates under SEK Education Group, which provides governance and support across its network of international schools.
