Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

The school offers a broad roster of student clubs and honor societies across elementary to high school, including the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), National Honor Society (NHS), Mu Alpha Theta, and the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. Honor societies and clubs emphasize scholarship, leadership, and service. A Global Issues Network (GIN) and other clubs provide opportunities to explore ideas beyond the classroom. Inter Class Competition also includes academic games alongside athletic events.

Arts and Creative

The Arts program includes curricular and co-curricular offerings in music, theatre, and visual arts. Artistic Grooves provides semester-long opportunities in art forms such as dance and instrumental ensembles, with end-of-semester showcases. The school participates in SAAC, ISTA, and AMIS arts festivals and competitions and has a state-of-the-art theater and film studio to support production and exhibitions.

Cultural and Language

Habla Roosevelt and the Korean International Club (KIC) are language-focused student groups. Habla Roosevelt provides language practice and cultural exchange; KIC engages students with Korean language and cultures. The Global Citizenship Program promotes cross-cultural understanding on campus and beyond.

Social and Hobbies

After School Activities are non-competitive, exploratory opportunities for Grades 1-5, including Arts & Crafts, Chess Club, and Capoeira. Artistic Grooves offers arts and music experiences with end-of-semester showcases; elementary students can also participate in the Condor Athletics Teams for sports opportunities. After-school activities also include a variety of other clubs and interests.

Community and Service

The Global Citizenship Program drives service and community engagement with outreach initiatives at local, regional and global levels. Service Projects are organized by student groups under the umbrella of the Global Citizenship Program and aim to build inclusive, sustainable solutions for global challenges. The program encourages partnerships with the wider community for service opportunities.

Leadership and Professional

Clubs and honor societies develop leadership and collaboration skills, including National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society. The Global Citizenship Program coordinates leadership development and recognizes student efforts; ICC week provides opportunities for planning and teamwork. The mix of MUN and other clubs around leadership fosters career-ready skills.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

The Athletics & Activities program offers more opportunities than most schools in Peru, with elementary participation in a range of sports and after-school activities. The Athletics program builds physical skills, coordination, and teamwork through a variety of sports, and large-scale events such as SAAC and regional competitions are common. The Aquatics program provides a 25-meter heated pool used for PE and educational purposes, with qualified coaches.

Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt, The American School of Lima, is an independent international school for ages 3 to 18 that combines a U.S.-based college-preparatory program with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. Instruction is in English, with the Official Peruvian Program (OPP) offered in Spanish and accredited by the Peruvian Ministry of Education. In high school, students may pursue the IB Diploma or select individual IB subjects, and the junior and senior years include Innovation Academy, a transdisciplinary path in Media, English and Humanities, followed by Economics and Marketing and a year of Business Entrepreneurship and Philosophy. Graduates earn the U.S. Diploma and may also receive the Official Peruvian Certificate of Studies and the IB Diploma. The campus sits on 23 acres in La Molina, Lima, with facilities including a swimming pool, Early Childhood Center, a Performing Arts Center, and library/media center. The school hosts athletics, arts, clubs, and service programs.
