Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Roosevelt school was founded in 1946 by a group of Lima parents who wanted an English-language, American-style education for their children. They named it after Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a U.S. president who stood for resilience and hope. By the 1990s the campus moved to La Molina, and the school grew into a vibrant, international community with dozens of nationalities. The official name of the School is Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt, The American School of Lima, and it is operated by Instituto Educacional Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a private nonprofit organization. Today, Colegio Roosevelt offers programs from Early Childhood through High School, combining a U.S.-based curriculum with the International Baccalaureate, preparing graduates to thrive anywhere in the world.

Community

Hail to Roosevelt is the anthem of Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt, uniting generations of students, alumni, and staff and reflecting the school's international spirit. The school has published a 75th Anniversary Book celebrating its journey from 1946 to today, with stories, photographs, and milestones. Alumni form the Roosevelt Alumni Association (FDRAA), a global network that shares news, events, and opportunities to stay connected with the school and with one another. We Are Roosevelt is the community cheer that unites Condors across generations.

Parent-Teacher Association

Parent Teachers Association (PTA) is the organization of all parents or guardians of FDR students, dedicated to the welfare, enrichment, and education of all FDR students. PTA officers are elected according to its bylaws. Any person wishing to be elected or appointed to a position in the PTA must not be in arrears of any payment owed to Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The PTA is described in the school's Policy Manual, Section 1.500, and operates to support student-parent-staff relations within the FDR community.
